Street Fighter IV (ストリートファイターⅣ, Sutorīto Faitā Fō?) is a fighting game and the next installment in Capcom's long-running Street Fighter franchise. It was announced on October 17, 2007. A pre-rendered teaser trailer done in a 3D calligraphic style showed Ryu and Ken sparring in a dark meadow, but no gameplay was shown due the project's infancy at the time. Although Capcom USA owns the rights to Street Fighter, development has been contracted to an internal studio at Capcom of Japan. Nothing else is known about Street Fighter IV at this time.

I hope Ryu is in it with some quarter-circle fireball action, you know, mix it up a bit.

First screenshot:

Quote:
Everyone is talking about Street Fighter IV today after Capcom revealed a smidgen of information earlier today. Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li and Dhalsim are confirmed to be in the cast. Fights occur in 2.5D and the first screenshot of ready-for-action Ryu popped on 1up. The rest of the information from Capcom is vague, like “new special moves that go beyond any Street Fighter fan’s wildest imagination.” They haven’t announced which system Street Fighter IV is coming out on either, but considering the quality of graphics it’s probably a Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 title. It would be interesting if it was a console exclusive, but that seems unlikely.

About the sole screenshot… do you notice anything unusual? Insert Credit made a humorous observation about the new Ryu. Give the picture a second glance before clicking over to see what’s “up”.

I know we're going to have some cracks about the screenshot Rolling Eyes

Edit-
And heres the 1up article:
http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3164756

I can't wait for that issue to come out.

How can you NOT like it? While it's not at all polished looking, it looks like they took 2D SF and attempted to make it 3D. I'm quite positive the final version will be MUCH better looking, while maintaining this general look,.

Quite a bit of new info was 'leaked' supposedly, its all rumors right now until the new EGM comes out though.

I think the new graphics look great, I just hope this game is tournament worthy.

Glad it looks quite close to the stylish CG trailer.

I'm digging the new look. I think it looks really stylish. Though this is a long ways from being released, IIRC. Hopefully it'll be worth the wait.

Never expected it to go the Virtua Fighter route. I prefer the old cartoony style.

This style is completely different than Virtua Fighter's.

I couldn't; I was at work, Mimi, and they monitor the PC at the site I was at. There was an unsecure connection in the building, but I didn't want to risk connecting to it with my laptop.

^LOL

I've been out of it lately.

EDIT: New info from the January issue of EGM via NeoGAF

-Producer is Yoshinori Ono, who worked on SF Alpha, SF III, and oversaw Capcom Fighting Revolution

-Ono wants it to be the "second coming" of SF II. Wants it to feel like "homecoming" for SF II fans.

-Online play is planned with potential for microtransactions such as new characters and stages

-The look is not really similiar to the teaser trailer. A "cartoon-shaded style that manages to evoke SF II reimagined in 3d"

- runs in 60FPS

- Gameplay sticking with 2D- Ono wants to "preserve the strategic nature of SF II"

-camera doesn't budge

- Trying to get "as many SFII characters in as possible"

- Takes place after SFII Turbo and before SF III

-Controls are traditional- "in its current early state, the game feels remarkably close to Super SFII Turbo"

- Game is more aggressive- more about attacking than defending. Many of the SF III and Alpha gameplay systems have been scrapped.

- Producer says they haven't decided what platforms or even if there will be an arcade version. Version Shane played was running on a P.C

- Ono suggests Capcom could make a PS2 or DS version if "they deem the market suitable"

-Ono not enthusiastic about making it an exclusive- wants to get it out on as many platforms as possible

60FPS really should go without saying this gen. Releasing a game that doesn't run at 60 FPS is like releasing a PS2 title on a blue disc; or releasing a game in SD format. It's inexcusable.

Gameplay vid.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udl8KCiLA-8&feature=related

It's from 1up and they have a whole interview about it but this here is the short gameplay only video of that. Anyway, it's looking really good IMO. I can't wait for it to come out.
