ATLUS releases new details about forthcoming online patch for KOF XIII

ATLUS RELEASES NEW DETAILS ABOUT FORTHCOMING ONLINE PATCH FOR THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIII, REVEALS THAT NESTS KYO DLC WILL BE SLIGHTLY DELAYED FOR PLAYSTATION 3 SYSTEM AND WILL LAUNCH AT A DISCOUNTED PRICE ($2.99) TO COMPENSATE

IRVINE, CALIFORNIA -- DECEMBER 19, 2011 -- ATLUS today released new information regarding the upcoming online patch for THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIII, the latest entry in the legendary fighting franchise, for PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system (PS3™) and Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.

According to ATLUS and developer SNK PLAYMORE, the patch will seek to make the game's network infrastructure more consistent for users, ensuring that the evaluation given connections is more accurate to the actual play experience. Moreover, the patch will introduce ranked host-side filtering, eliminating the frustration of match hosts unable to avoid matches with players with poor connections. In addition to a number of other improvements, the update will also address a number of rare glitches reported since the game's release. No release date currently exists for the update, but ATLUS reports that the developer is making every effort to release the patch as soon as possible.

ATLUS also today revealed that the North American PlayStation®Network release of NESTS Kyo, the next DLC character to be made available, would be delayed until 1/10 due to a technical error. The Xbox LIVE® Marketplace release (12/20) of the DLC will not be affected.

"We apologize to our PlayStation 3 system KOF XIII fans for the slight delay of the next downloadable character," stated Aram Jabbari, Manager of PR and Sales at ATLUS. "In gratitude to our fans for their patience, we will be discounting the NESTS Kyo character to $2.99 for a limited time when it is finally released in the North American PlayStation®Store on 1/10."

One question, I didn't understand well this press release, will the netcode actually improve or it will only fix some design errors like the kind of ping bar that you watch or not being able to avoid a ranked match if you are the host?

I did read that part, I'm just kinda bummed that I have to wait that long, is all.

Now for a more pressing issue.

One question, I didn't understand well this press release, will the netcode actually improve or it will only fix some design errors like the kind of ping bar that you watch or not being able to avoid a ranked match if you are the host?

Curious on this as well, I keep hearing that the netcode in the demo is somewhat better than the one from the full game. Will that netcode be what we get post-patch?

That just means that when you see 3 bars, you will get a 3 bars experience. Because right now a 3 bars can feel like 1 bar or a 4 bars. It's random at times and inaccurate.

Anyways, sucks NEST Kyo got delayed, I really wanted to use him tomorrow. But well, at least it will just cost 3 dllrs, thanks for the consideration!

While this is a welcome imporvement its not what I was looking for. Making netplay more "consistent" doesn't excite me since its been consistently bad. I was hoping for a major imporvement in the netcode.

Just bought it finally. I am surprised to see that there does not seem to be any option to play king of fighters in a 1 vs 1 match (single match) online? Is this correct? Will it be corrected, too in the patch?

1vs1 is not KOF style, i think...

I know it isnt the "KOF Style" but it was always a regular option, also in the older KOF Arcade games (see ggpo / kaillera and such).

It probably has more to do with focusing the community on embracing the 3on3 team style of KOF gameplay that's been around since 94 and keeping leaderboard rankings straight forward.

Sorry, guys but I'm a big noob. I bought both Nests Kyo and Iori, but I can't figure out how to select them. I downloaded the characters (both were 6k) and it said it installed but when I go to the select screen, I see nothing

I tried that, but nothing. Its almost as though the patch didn't install or something. I've downloaded and re-installed a bunch of times already. Very strange/frustrating.

Nevermind, I finally got it working. I had to reformat the drive then reinstall.

Country flags are misleading too, the only truthfully good thing to measure delay is ping times shown as the number itself.

they are not misleading in SSFIV they are chosen by default according to your console region. if im right.
