If it's true they cut voices out of the US version, that does suck. Doesn't sound like a very Atlus thing to do either. Maybe they've really overwhelmed themselves and just can't handle the giant flood of games they're releasing?

I'd much rather have this pushed back, so that the original integrity of the game will be preserved.
PS: please keep the original voices, since it's cheaper to sub than it is to dub.

The lessened voice acting in the game doesn't dwindle my interest in this game one bit. The reason I'm interested in this game isn't because of the story or the voice acting. It's because of the gameplay and the slight resemblance this game has to Landstalker. We should be happy that Atlus is localizing this game and that it is coming so soon!

Amount I care about voice acting of any kind - 0%
Amount I care about the fact that I can play the game in english - 100%
I wish they'd just get rid of Voice acting altogether. I liked coming up with my own voices for characters.

It's possibly a cart size restriction or a limit on the amount of money they're willing to spend compared to projected sales.
Regardless, it doesn't impact my interest in the game one bit. I didn't even know there was voice acting in the original.

Voice acting might not be the only thing removed.
As of today gamestop has removed Steal Princess from their computer POS system. No SKU. No reservation. Nothing. What gives? Is it being canceled?

It could simply be that their POS system is a POS. I doubt the game was cancelled just days after the hot posters were voted upon.

Well that's not good. I was counting on getting this from GameStop. I hope that's just a temporary glitch. I doubt it was cancelled though.

Steal Princess is not canceled. Gamestop can be finicky sometimes. If you are having any trouble getting the game at one location, my suggestion would be to try another Gamestop or use a different retailer altogether.
Or just keep checking back with them. The last thing they want to do is turn away someone who wants to give them money.

I agree 100%. Eliminate voices all together and we eliminate this amazingly stupid plea for the original voices every damned time a Japanese game gets localized.

Hate to have to point this out, but could it just be possible that in the english video that either the voicework was not available at the time or the person recording simply opted to turn the voices off?
Way too much jumping to conclusions going on here.

Nonsense!
I heard that Atlus also decided to remove characters from the game because the Western market has trouble identifying with protagonists that aren't 3D rendered using 178,000 different shades of brown and grey.
As a result, players will have to read the dialogue and guess their character's onscreen location. Although you might expect that this makes the game impossible, it actually cancels out the visual ambiguity regarding the locations of floating platforms and makes the game slightly easier than the Japanese version.

you guys are overreacting. i R4'd JP version late last year. the JP voice acting is crap. especially the fairy, who made my skin crawl. like a 36kbps MP3 of nails down a chalkboard. if they actually did cut them out, its probably better off without it.
the game itself is pretty chill tho.

Well I can confirm that this game title was removed from the list at Gamestop. I had the game reserved and paid in full. When I went in today to pick up another game I had reserved I was told that I had a "sku not found" item on my reserve list. When I checked the sku # and amount it said I had paid with my original list from a few days before it was indeed Steal Princess that is no longer available through Gamestop. I have several friends and family members that also had this game reserved at Gamestop and when they called to check on their reserves they were told the same thing.
So either there is a glitch in their system or they are not going to be carrying this game after all. Hopefully more info will be available soon.

Sometimes this happens when they need to change the SKU for some reason. Generally it'll resolve itself in a week or so and either your money will be put on the new SKU or you can transfer it. Happened to me with Soul Nomad a while back.

After witnessing Star Ocean 2's horrible dialogue with ridiculous amounts of voiced cutscenes, I could care less about voice acting.

I also had my pre-order canceled, and I just moved my $5 to Dark Spire, but it's frustrating, because I'm Really Looking Forward to this game. So, no word yet on why, huh?

Just to point this out, in case anyone was still wondering. What voicework there is is in Japanese, there's just not much of it besides the odd "Ya Ta!" ("I win," if I recall correctly, not keen on romanese spelling.)
There's not much about the cutscenes that would have warrented a dub, much less keeping what original voicework there was to start with. Most of the game is just comical bickering with occasional fourth wall moments anyway. There's no real plot substance, just lots of humor.
