Persona for the PS1.
Saw the review in a game magazine and I thought it might be interesting. At the time, there weren't a lot of known RPGs set in a contemporary time.
The gameplay got me hooked, but as I grew older and well-versed in Japanese language and culture, I realized that the game was gutted in so many different ways that it wasn't even funny.
I'm glad that Atlus game localizations nowadays aren't trying hard to "Americanize" games like they did with this one before.

My first Atlus game is Demons Souls. I suppose that here could have been others, Ive been gaming since the NES. I just don't remember any that I have played or owned.
Demons Souls is such an additive and unique game Im glad to have a publisher out there to support games such as these. Ill be sure to check out mroe of Atlus's previous games and upcoming one as well.

My first Atlus game was Luminous Arc, followed by P3FES.

Persona: Revelations for the PS1 waay back in the day. I really don't remember how I happened to pick that game up, but I was just shocked that such an RPG could exist.. could be so wildly different and insightful. Man vs Self. I loved it and have followed the series faithfully since then.

Crusader of Centy for Sega Genesis! It was my favorite game when I was a kid. I don't think I played another Atlus game again until Persona 3 FES. Now I'm hooked on SMT. (But who isn't?)

This probably isn't my first Atlus game, but I started paying attention to Atlus after playing Contact DS. I thought it was super unique and cute at the time.

My first ATLUS game was Tactics Ogre for the PS1(and what a first that was, to date there are only 3 tactic games that can claim to be better, one of which is another Tactics Ogre game, and another game basically designed by the same team who created Tactics Ogre). Personally I think that is thee game that jump started ATLUS, as the renowned localizer it is today. However the crazy thing is, it has seemed to be a never ending string of good games (not all of them were great, however not everything can be great, but there wasn't a single bad game yet).
PS. ATLUS so must have a bunch of play testers test out the games, before deciding to localize it or not, to see if they are good games or the standard crap.

Demon's Souls, though it's really not an Atlus game technically.
but given that they had the foresight to bring us such a unique game to the states, they have caught my attention.
now with the deluxe edition strat guide replacement they are doing, it shows me they are a class act too.
I'll be keeping my eye on more Atlus games in the future.
they'll be getting my money long as they give us quality games.

My First Atlus game was SMT: Nocturne. Yikes, brings back memories.... "brutal" is an undestatement for the gameplay back in the day.
Right after that game, I've got hooked on Atlus.

I am thinking that he is a spammer... If I'm wrong, forgive me, dgfhg... Of course, that name doesn't help ...
Let's see...
1. Random letters for a name - check.
2. Nonsensical first post (or in this case, quoting 2 unrelated posts, and not adding any new words at all) - check.
3. Weird spammish links in sig - check.
4. Only one post - check.

Revelations: Persona
I saw an ad for it in (I think) Electronic Gaming Monthly back in the day. I thought it looked neat and my friend picked it up and that started it all.

So that's how it is. It seemed very unlikely that we had the exact same experience, so I thought he was mocking me. lol. Should have known.
