I have heard 15-20 hours a couple times if you aren't a completionist.

Honestly, if you know what you're doing and are just rushing from dungeon to dungeon, you can complete it in under 10 hours. But most people's first playthrough are in the 20-25 hour range, which takes into account exploring and doing sidequest stuff as you come across it, as well as not knowing what they're doing (read: unintentional "exploring" and dying in dungeons). If you go out of your way to try and explore everything and do every sidequest, it shifts to the 25-30 hour mark.
Getting the platinum trophy requires multiple playthroughs and thus a whole lot more hours. Meanwhile, a lot of the sidequests and bonus scenes are time dependent, meaning that if you aren't following a guide and don't already know everything to look out for in the game, there probably isn't a chance you're going to do and see everything you can in one playthrough anyhow.
Side note: If you can get into the groove of the Block Defense minigame, that thing and its 15 maps can easily eat up hours upon hours of your time.

First day I got the game, I spent 9 hours in the character editor and didn't even start my game...
Then I cranked 6 more hours into the character editor, and put 25 hours into my first save file. I just started a NG+ on From Mode and I'm about an hour into that. I can definitely see myself sinking at least another 25 hours into this run, plus potential Block Defense time, and then more character editor time after that.
Charging straight through the game would be pretty quick, but there's a lot of various stuff to do that can keep you busy if you want to be kept busy.

Thing is on your second runthrough on from you already know the gist of the game. My first run I beat in 29 hours and ended getting swords booking monsters and minigames at 40 hours.
from mode lasted 8 hours for me and thats with reloads since i dont like using continues.
I recently beat spelunker and that took 7 hours with all sidequests and had to literally leave my console on for a good 2-3 hourrs to get that dum 10 hr trophy...
The more you play it the faster you get just like most zelda games.
honestly getting to the desert temple without help was a pain if you do not know the secret.

Yeah, I kinda counted on that, so I just cruised through the game on my first run (didn't try the minigames, didn't go after all the life/swords/etc.). Now I'm doing all that stuff, going for best ending, etc. on my From run, just to keep it spicy.

block defense bonus alone has had 6 hours put into it. The 10 special stages after the five normal ones are rediculously awesome, hard though!
