Signature images

I used to have signatures turned off for the longest time but after an unfortunate misunderstanding I've had them turned back on.

Recently it seems that the size restrictions have either stopped being enforced or were changed without my knowledge of it. In my opinion, when one post takes up an entire screen of my computer to say one line (if that) of text then we're starting to get into ridiculous territory again.

If this is going to be acceptable now, then I'll just turn them back off no problem. If the rule is still in place, however, then I humbley request that some enforcement of it begins again.

Gotta agree with Ollie. It's made especially worse when members with big sigs post in succession. Some threads have become unreadable. Though this may actually be a good thing...

Yeah, I have to agree. I just turned it off, now too. Some of the bigger ones are cool, but yeah, they are too big.

The time and patience part was directed towards the Admins since the thread itself was primarily a plea to them.

I have to jump on the bandwagon as well. There have been some real annoyingly large sigs around here lately.

YEAH wtf IS wrong wit-err...lol..n/m. Tho I have seen some of what you are talking about, I realise I am also guilty since I changed mine recently. I already had admin breathing on me about the language, which I fixed. But I pulled mine completely lest this angry mob turn their pitchforks on me. Lol.

Tho I will say how prevelant it is to see links for click-farmers on here, and people tryin fer referrals to play Asia n stuff. Mostly because the farmers just post useless banter or nonsense.

Anyhow, I deleted my Catherine std psa so some good has come from this. Lol.

Poking around the support forums for vBulletin, it appears there is no way to regulate the size of off-site images in people's sigs. (We can set it so that you can only have one image per sig, but there's nothing we can do at the foundational level about what that image is.)

I've been pretty annoyed at some of the sigs lately too, and if it were up to me I'd just turn them off for everybody. But before we go that far, we'll try talking to some of the people with the more obnoxious sigs and see if we can get it under control that way.

I'm pretty sure that there are several image resizers available that work for signature pics, and regular images being displayed in posts on the forums. (Here is one: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=184571)

I also know that there is a Product you can use that would allow a signature image to only show once per thread page. (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=136364) The user has to have it selected in order for it to take effect, though you could universally apply it when setting it up.

I would also recommend making the upgrade to VB 4.0 one of these days.

I'm not terribly concerned about whether we have sigs or not, but say they do get taken away- will it just be image sigs, or even text sigs?

Onion set a guideline that a sig image should be no larger than 500x250. My current one is at 500x199.

Actually, my sig is due for a change. When I make a new image for it, I'll probably try and keep it around 500x150.
