That's more of a reasonable attitude I can appreciate.
and to answer your question, here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westwood_Studios
I miss them, their older games showed some real imagination and talent, despite the limitations of old pc's. They are long gone now but I stopped following them around the time when they were joined into EA and lost a lot of what made them great.

Wait, wait wait, there was a game based off of Dune? Please tell me these games are still around. X3

Yeah.. I did see the "newer" game they did, Dune 2000 was actually also dropped on the psx, but heres the link on amazon that shows the pc game (and in the 'similar titles' it shows the psx one) . there is also the original Dune one they did HERE . but I can't attest to it's quality. I checked GOG.com but they don't have either, sadly. Likely a lot of those old properties were eaten up by EA when they took westwood and so they might eventually pop on their digital download site.. dunno. And there is also a few others in the series, some of which still pop on amazon so.. you may be able to get them all(though good luck running something THAT old on a modern pc... some can be mighty tricky)
Sorry to derail things... wasn't my intention..

Underground company makes money from loyal fans.
Gets big enough it decides it doesn't need those same fans and that it can cheap out on games.
Nothing new here, just disappointing.

A company gets larger and yet certain employees of this company, people who happen to actually work on / with games, take the time to interact with the fans of their games on a message board. You're right. What a bunch of d-bags.

Thanks to enigmaopoeia from GFAQs, here's the DLC.
Quote:
Here are the listing of the available quests so far for the Japanese version. Do note that my translations may be off:
School of the Heart: Part 1 - Director: Atlus.
School of the Heart: Part 2 - Director: Atlus.
The Persona Thief - Director: Atlus.
DLC:
The truth behind the Demonic Gentleman - Director: FamiTsu.
S.O.S. Gemaga - Director: Gemaga.
Persona 2: Mikage I - Director: Satomi Tadashi.
Persona 2: Mikage II - Director: Satomi Tadashi.
Persona 2: Mikage III - Director: Satomi Tadashi.
Hanako from the Toilets - Director: Gamewatch.
Write a Report about the Mafia's Arrival - Director: 4Gamer.net.
Flower Rumors, a Dream of Tomorrow - Director: Dengeki.
|
Not sure of the quality.
I can say that The Persona Thief is delightful. I'm morbidly curious about the Satomi Tadashi ones.

Interesting list, thanks cj.
I actually have the japanese version, but my understanding of the language is far from good, so I'd rather not try them out until I improve.
I must say though that "Hanako from the toilets" sounds really amusing

*crosses fingers that we'll eventually get them* Those do sound really interesting, hopefully we'll get to play them one day. I loved looking at the new character art!

Quest creator
Any news on the quest creator or any of the DLC quests being added? I love this game so much after playing it, and I would love to do some more stuff even though I pretty much did every quest in the game (The rumor quests and Initial theater quests included). I really wish atlus had not taken out the quest creator...I would be playing with it like crazy right now. I check back a lot hoping to hear an announcement about it. Any news?

They've already stated that the quest creator was taken out. I highly doubt they will put it back in.

So FYI, the DLC quests are on the J-PSN store; free. I assume it's doable with a JP copy of the game. Or maybe someone'll find a way to put them into the US version, who knows. I'd be okay with that.
They're highly rated, too. So hey, if Eternal Punishment PSP happens: don't take DLC out of that one, k? Thx.

These are the days I wish I could read Japanese...
But anyway, are the quests always free? I hope so.

I know this is a a little late, but if you want to know how the quest creator works or how it looks like.

Do you think you could record some of the DLC missions? That would be cool.

Fascinating info from GameFAQs.

Because it was essentially broken by the rest of the localization. It was highly dependant on the original dialog system, when it was reprogrammed to handle english text it broke the quest creation system.

Interesting if true.

potentially offensive material... atlus is aware that this is shin megami tensei, catherine and the like they are talking about, persona 3 and 4 are rated M for the ps2, we are used to dark, twisted, adult, and offensive material! why else are we playing persona? for the happy-go-lucky rpg experience? heck no! i wanna use as much foul language as i can, as many adult themes as i can, and as many dark, twisted and demented themse as i can by creating a quest for persona!
it is my feeling that we should harass atlus until they release a patch for this game which will allow the user created content to be used, as well as giving us the persona quest creator!
honestly! we keep getting shafted by game companies here in usa, bethesda only released the skyrim creation kit on 360 and pc, and held off on the ps3/pc dlc content, you mentioned the user created content was pulled from the us version of disgaea, sega pulled the hostess clubs from yakuza 3, honestly, why pull something from a game if it can be potentially offensive? doesnt the esrb give the notice of "game experience may change online, online interation not rated"?
look at how atlus responded last year when fans protested against the demon's souls online server closure! look at how bioware responded to the angry fans over the mass effect 3 ending! i say we should let atlus have it untill they release the quest creator!
therefore:
dear atlus,
PLEASE release a patch or dlc for persona 2 - innocent sin, that will allow the creation and playability of fan made content in the persona 2 theater!

P2 is not going to generate enough support to shake ATLUS enough to do it.
There is a difference between a Mara and an actual D****, besides P4 kind of shows we play persona for the happy-go-lucky rpg experience (Idiotic i know but thats how it is).
