Interesting points:

-The game used 3D models then placed the 2D sprites over them
-The game is canon to Persona 3 and Persona 4, and the story is still a focus
-There will be plenty of new content for the home version

Oh man, I really wanna know what is going to happen in the game! New characters, huh? I wonder if it will be more P3 characters... or non-canon SMT heroes.
I wonder if they are going to continue, somehow, Persona 3's story a little and see if Minato can comeback... although, that's kinda unlikely, but Atlus can't leave the guy there T-T

ULTIMATE BOSS FIGHT!

beat the snot out of P3MC all overpowered to prove you can take on NYX then beat the crap out of nyx(who randomly changes into other persona sort of like Shang Tsung) until all the different shapes are dead and then just him for a while.... if you finish MC is unlocked with Thanatos as his persona.. *grins*

Would be a marathon battle.. lol.. sort of like the end of p3...

Izanami was a far cooler boss though, both in design, and in premise. =X

Personally, I want Dojima to be unlockable. He can fight with the power of wisdom, intense lectures, and Police Justice! I can even see his sprite and animations. He idles by standing firm with one hand holding his coat slung over his shoulder. He walks calm, and tough-like, and always throws punches with his free hand, never letting go of the coat, and combos with speech bubbles, hand cuffs, and the occasional warrant! He has some special attacks, like having his police car drive through the screen, and his ultimate attack is to slap you into interrogation, holding the one, dinky light in your face, and bombards you with facts of your wrong doings. >.>

Sounds like somebody plays Phoenix Wright in UMvC3...

This i'm glad to hear. Though with Arc System Works here, i wonder if it'll be like Blazblue, choosing one character at a time and working through his or her story until you unlock the true ending.

What an interesting interview! I'm especially thrilled about the promise of new content for the home version of the game, whatever it may be. I would personally like more "guest" fighters from Persona 3, but all sorts of new (or old) characters are welcome!

I have a small gripe about this being canon mostly because of Labrys. Don't get me wrong, I love her design and the possibility of being able to play as her and all, but it seems really weird to have something so out of place as a robot girl being the student council president of Yasogami High School. That's more of a Persona 3 thing than a Persona 4 thing since Inaba felt very "normal" and laid back compared to Tatsumi Port Island.

What you don't realize is that she is actually one of the Kirijo Group's Aigis type model robots. In their efforts to try and save as many people as possible, the company created hundreds of the robots and stationed them in high schools all over Japan to watch for and hunt down any lingering shadows that might have been out there. And yes, this was before "the fall" and all that jazz, so sadly no one remembered having sent them out....except the robots. So like Aigis, they are on a mission and completely unknown by anyone else. After discovering the midnight channel and (eventually) the competition, it was then Libris's job to join the tourney and use it as an excuse to investigate and hunt down persona and shadows.

If you watch closely in Persona 4: The Golden you'll see her observing and recording events as they unfold, showing that she was aware of the situation but keeping a "behind the scenes" profile. In a few select easter egg scenes you'll spot her actually saving members of the investigation party, unbeknownst to them.

I'm also TOTALLY making this all up cause.. i have no idea why they added her.. hehehe... Only way i'll find out is to buy the game and play it.. so.. YEAH TAKE MY MONIES!

I believe it's been stated Labrys was in a Persona 4 audio drama, so there's already precedent for her.

Actually i am sure what I said is totally inaccurate, though it strikes me as odd they are pulling in a new character from.. the audio drama cd's. But hey I guess it is a way to cross promote... sort of..

Sorry to bump this thread though I"m unable to post my own. I was just curious about the choices made for characters in this game. It's suppose to be a game that determines the "best persona" user apparently but then why are the characters for P1/2 left out? Sadly this is the only reason why I haven't brought myself to purchase this game yet I would have loved to see the original persona characters come back in this since those are to the two games that got me into the series so I have a stronger connection to those then the ones from P3/4. I just wonder like without spoilers if perhaps there is a reason why they weren't included in the arena game.

Such as, I can forgive the choice if perhaps the story implies why the characters from P1/P2 aren't included but if they just left them out to leave them out I'll be disappointed by that and prolly won't find myself picking this game up lol.

The reason I ask in this thread was because I was hoping that when looking at said interview they may explain why they are only doing P3/P4 characters even though they have re-released the original Persona series so you would think they may have thought about including characters from all 4 games rather than just the last 2 released.

I think everyone knows that... but still... it kinda hurts that the P1 and P2 characters are left out. Tatsuya is the best in my opinion. Oh well, I hope he's a DLC at least...

Well, considering all the P1/P2 characters can switch Personae on the fly, they'd kind of bury everyone.

Except Elizabeth and maybe Narukami. They ain't ready for that.

Having characters from 1 and 2 show up for Arena would make no sense at all unless you are talking about non-story related DLC fighters.

But in any case, all P1 and P2 characters have the wild card... with a few limitations, but they're still strong.

And adding P1 characters in P2 made sense? If you think about it, P2 didn't needed the P1 characters, so it could make sense in Arena. But as I said before, DLC or whatever, Tatsuya could be cool.

EDIT: Don't tell me that these two would look awesome... even in DLC.
