For terrible translations, yes. Not much else.

You could cite some examples. Find me a Working Designs game with bad voice acting.
Good luck.
|
How many WD games had a significant amount of voice acting? Or was that some bad joke?
|
Uh, nearly all of them? Have you even played any of their games?
|
Uh, yeah. and most of them don't have, what I would call, a significant amount of voice acting. It's easy to say a game has good voice acting when it a few lines of voiced dialogue.
|
Popful Mail was nearly full voice acted. As were the Lunar games for the FMVs. Growlanser II and III had so much that it pretty much put them under, because it cost so much to do.
Even Elemental Gearbolt, a light gun shooter, had high quality voiceover. They put a lot of work into making sure they didn't have, say, a Magna Carta dub in any of their titles.

and where is his company now? You keep compairing WD to ATLUS USA but why is ATLUs USA still here and WD isn't?

Perhaps the best way to settle this is to say that while Vic Ireland is arguably a pretty good idea man, he is definitely a piss-poor business man.

Even worse if you consider that $15k of that is from two pledges, and judging by a couple of comments found in the comments, I am not entirely sure those were sincere pledges.

Regardless they got awfully close. I still can't believe his goal was... uh... expected to be hit? Maybe if he was insane. Which he might be. That said I suspect alot of kickstarts right now especially relating to games are less legit KS's and more.... Proof's of concept?

Well, despite the hilarious failure, I still plan to get this game, and I hope you all do too. I have faith in Vic's tastes, despite what you all think about him as a person.

I'm all for first person dungeon crawlers, and I can look past my feelings for Ireland to support a good game, but this isn't a good game.
I can't take this type of art style any longer. I also don't trust any guarantee of future quality titles.

I take it you aren't buying Etryian Odyssey either?
In serious news though if you do like dungeon crawlers Kakizaki and are tired of the anime inspired ones check out Legend of Grimrock. It is a fun game and only 15 bucks. That's less than what it cost to get a thank you email from Vic Ireland on the Class of Heroes Kickstarter.

I still like EO. While I can see where you can make some comparisons between the art styles used in EO and CoH, there are plenty of major differences as well.
edit - Yeah, Grimrock does look neat. I have been reading some comments about it on another forum.

Unless you've played CoH2, I don't think it's safe to judge yet. Heck, I passed on CoH1 because it didn't appeal to me, but if he says this one's worth it, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

^The art would still be a hurdle. A huge hurdle. I can't support a title any longer simply because it is an okay-to-slightly above average jrpg. I get that there seems to be a lot of animosity concerning the current state of jrpgs, and I do believe there are still quite a few decent to great ones coming out, but CoH2 does not appeal to me in the least. There are quite a few other titles that I would rather see, and I don't believe that any of them will ever be selected by Ireland and co. (Metal Max, Elminage)
Not to mention the future of the CoH franchise does not do much for me either. The most recently announced title in the series looks pretty bleh.

I think it's safe to judge if you HAVE played CoH1. Which I have and which is why I'll pass on the "more of the same" sequel.

Does this really deserve its own thread?
This would have bombed worse than CoH2. Derivative junk, but it is a perfect example of what scared me about Ireland's promise of higher quality titles in the future. Would he have deemed this as such a title? No thanks...

Y'know, the art of CoH2, what little I've seen of it, might be the only thing about the game that I kinda like. A lot (and I mean a LOT) of JRPGs have been doing that sort of weird, offputting cute-but-with-sex-appeal art, and CoH2 is refreshingly free of sexiness.
I believe the kids nowadays are calling it moe, but I also think that's a bit of a misnomer, or at best semantic drift. I though moe was roughly supposed to be "adorable," as opposed to "adorable but uncomfortably sexy."

Moe is usually just adorable (in looks and actions, like say, some, including me, would say that a tsundere character is moe!)
Although seriously, I love me some moe + sex appeal. That ####'s great, and I apparently don't see it quite as much as you do, lol. But then again I'm one of those guys who prefers an adorable girl over a "hot" one any day of the week, so we may have a varying definition of "sex appeal".

I've no problem with moe + sex appeal in general. It just seems that this is usually achieved by making adorable characters and then putting them in skimpy outfits. Which usually just ends up being uncomfortable and awkward. And it seems like that sort of thing is what people call moe. Just for example, the Ar Tonelico series or Hyperdimension Neptunia.
I dunno, maybe I'm just weird. I've never been on board with the "less clothes = sexy" thing to begin with. I figured out at a pretty early age that chainmail bikinis are ####ing retarded.

Nope, never will either. However I am capable of reading game reviews, watching videos, and talking to dudes who I know have played it. There is also the fact that a new leisure suit game came out last year which makes me wonder why it even needed a kickstarter. The series wasn't dead.
