Default Goodbye KOF13 Online

Let me start by saying this is by far my favorite fighter out right now. But I'm just done with online. KoF12 online was awful & despite that I went ahead & got 13 anyway and am still much more than satisfied with the gameplay offline.

Waited patiently for a patch holding on to hope that I'd be able to improve my skills in this. And after waiting for a whole new game, a patch, & 200+ games online I give up. I can't even do basic bnb's online or manuever around projectiles reliable on 3-4 bars. There's really no reason for a game to be released in 2011 & have a worse netocde than another made in 2009. So everyone who's lucky enough to be able to enjoy online please continue but its just not up to par for me.

Online is killing the fun of the fighting games. It sure works on first person shooters but fighting games since long ago have been about kicking the hell out of the adversary and nothing is better than having him (Rarely her) face to face.

You two should get some "area" friends and play fighting game as God has demended to be

The issue in my case has more to do with finding players. I've been searching and hosting matches almost daily with no luck. Couldn't find a single local match.

I only got to find 2 orange (2 bars) connections, which were playable, none of which were in my region, I believe.

well this thread is abit OVERdramatic. first, sort your inet connection and second the online gaming IS playable. Im over 2050 ( ranked ) 1145 ( player ) plays and not very often I get lag only with the typical 3 that i always play ( due to them using Wireless )

the whole top 50 @ playstation are above 1000 plays and they keep playing it and going up. so whoever says the online experience is unplayable needs to do something about their connection.

the game is very much playable

if the game was really that bad ( online wise ) why are we bothering playing? . the number one is already in 4k and more. people ARE playing with less issues.

BUT like I mentioned before this game needs ONE more patch to sort the problem with lag against peple in green bars and blue bars.

Mortal Kombat has a horrible netcode and I'm willing to bet that they're going to use the exact same one for the next game. Video game companies just don't give a **** about fighting games online.

Netcode is not so bad, but people wants red connections would be more playables (me too), and if your country or neighbor KOF is not very popular you are in problems. Would be great if in red connections they use rollback for help to input delay, but this requires SNKP develop "savestates" internally in the game.

I hope SNKP release another patch, Atlus have not any information about this???

Got to find a match with level 3 connection (blue or green, can't remember). Wasn't as responsive as I expected, but it was still very playable. I would say the input delay was about ~ 00:20 seconds.

I'm still trying a local person with a good connection to try it with.

i prefer only VS battle. Lot of stupid people, red connections, i have enough. 100 wins, 300 match is enough for me.... that is all..
i did once 1400 online matches in xii, do you want more? NO!

do you know that with the updated patch theres a new option in ranked match to chose what type of connection you allowing to challenge you, you know right?

I always put 2 bars and up. and I have never encountered anyone with red bars.

Companies do care... just not so much in Mortal Kombat.
In Blazblue, i could fight people all over the world and it'd still be very rare for me to have much lag.
In Mortal Kombat however, i have pretty much given up on fighting online. Most of the time it freezes up before or after i choose my fighter.

I got across MoroCOF_13 online today. We live in the same city. Even though the connection appeared to me as red, we had excellent matches with a barely noticeable input lag.

Then today, I came across another guy with blue connection (level 4). The connection was almost perfect. I even forgot I was playing online. I'm very pleased. Seems like the online play works fine with small distances. Luckily I found these 2 and added them to my list. I was struggling to find a single smooth match before that.

PS: I had more luck finding ppl by creating a room myself with level 2 connection as a requirement and waiting in practice mode. I would come across at least 1 decent match every one or two sessions. Doing a search has always turned out red connection results for me. Always.

I live in the tri-state area on the east coast. There should be plenty of people close to me. Comcast is my ISP. I only play on a wired connection. I even go so far as to take my router out of the equation & connect my xbox directly to the modem. I've done everything I can on my end.

I use to tell myself the netcode was fine too after the patch provided I played 3-4 bars only. After finishing no & I mean literally NO intermediate combos online with 3-4 bars I decided I play the computer a few times. Since I know that doing a combo in battle is much different than training mode. I landed all my combos consistently on the computer so my execution wasn't the issue. I said all that just to say I'm not some guy playing on wireless with 3 computers on downloading torrents complaining about lag.

So I asked myself would I keep playing with this connection if I was playing SF4. I wouldn't. I'd kick the person & look for a better connection. The problem is there is no better connection to look for in this game. And I only play 3 bars +

Like I said If you're playing online & find it playable then I urge you to continue. I'm in no way trying to convince anyone who finds this playable online besides SNK. I love this game and would like to see it grow in popularity. The fact that I've taken the time out to register on this site & type out this waay too long post should say that.

I'd like to think I've been patient with SNK waiting for the KoF12 patch. Then waiting for a WHOLE NEW GAME. Then waiting for another patch just for online to be on the level of other games released years before it.

@Silly Goose:

I was able to trade HD combos with the two ppl I mentioned in my previous post, with no problems. I didn't practise these combos outside practice mode. I'm not trying to defend the game, I'm just saying.

Perhaps it's because we had fast connections. Mine is 8 mb.

Mature - Quick Q - are you going to Evo?

Also, as an avid online player from Kaillera days, I have to recognize that KoF13 online mode is absolute garbage. I can barely get a good connection out of people nearby - I have a middle-tier business line from comcast, wired connection and everything enabled properly.
Green/blue means nothing if its still trash. There is no indication of what qualifies as 4 or 3, as it does not translate into a constant ping. The lobby system is terrible, theres never more than 1 or 2 people available to even get to the multiple-lobby screen, so I'm stuck hitting refresh time and time again after "Your connection does not meet the requirements to join".

MLG is picking up KoF13, which should be big news for the SNK enthusiasts. Atlus needs to address the netcode concerns a lot more with the Japanese counterparts if they want their product to sell a lot more. They will be missing on a lucrative chance which will also help the scene grow.

Hello! I was considering picking up a console and this game sometime soon. I was wondering which console has the most on-line players. I'm leaning towards a Playstation 3, but I would love some feedback. Is it difficult to find opponents on PS3? I'm not really interested in off-line play.

Thanks!

the rankings says it all. on PS3 theres more people playing online than Xbox360 by a mile. plus ps3 online is better on this game.

For those who find online unplayable, make sure the game is installed on your machine. It changed the online play from a slide-show fest to smooth matches with barely noticeable input lag while playing against a particular guy after I asked him to install the game.

I live in the UAE. The other guy lives in Saudi Arabia, and has a 2 MB connection. The distance is roughly 500 KM (~ 300 miles). I also have another guy from Kuwait in my list and we have an almost perfect connection. Not sure what's his connection speed, but it's probably 4 MB at least. The distance is about 800 KM (~ 500 miles).

Basically, I can get a very playable ~ almost perfect connection in my region. Other than that, all the connections I find are unplayable red bars. I would love to test with someone from the North Africa or South Asia regions.

I am changing my ISP for an ADSL line, now the game runs so better and very smooth, and now I can see a lot of people in green and blue conections where before I see this people in yellow and hiccups are innexistent.

The game not requires an Internet at big speed, but requires a very stable connection, cable internet are the worst for this game, you can discover with this game if your Internet sucks or not

I did quit KOF XIII online a while ago mostly because of the lack of improvement on the netcode post-patch. Plus, I've gotten all of the online trophies in the game, so what else is there to do? I just have four more trophies to go, and they are all Mission mode trophies.

I do like this game, but if it had a better netcode, I would still play the game online. For now... I'm gonna play BlazBlue Extend because in my opinion, that game's netcode is better.

This stinks because the best way to get good is to play online with others. Not get enraged at a lag-fest.
