Okay, I know I'm coming out of nowhere with this one, but I've learned to trust my intuition. You're free to disagree. Many of you might, but we'll see who is right when the director's cut comes out.

The Director's Cut...will PROBABLY involve Izanami!

I didn't think Sentai would get the original cast.

I already got really used to the Japanese voices, and I kinda prefer them, but it's nice that they went to the effort for the people who prefer/only know the dub.

I figured they would end up doing that, else they risk losing a LOT of fans and looking like they didn't make a real effort on localizing it. Great news though, I will have to grab me the box set! Special edition, with the Teddy beverage mug!! muhahahah

That DEFINITELY made my day! I was planning on buying P4A in the first place, but this is another reason to; I just hope they keep Teddie's name, since the subtitles don't.

I believe the comment by bigddan11 sounds the most logical about that.
Quote:
Technically Sentai may not have contacted the actors and yet have this report be fully correct. If they contracted the studio that does Persona 4 to do the dub for the anime as well and asked them to get the original voice actors for the series, then it would be the studios fault the VA's haven't been contacted for the anime. Yet Sentai would be reporting accurate information in that they've contracted the studio to get the original VA's to play those parts.
But since we have no clear information, be skeptical about anything until we get an actual announcement.

It wouldn't surprise me if they'd just contacted the original dubbing company to do it and they haven't talked to the actors yet. It sounds like most of them wouldn't mind doing it, though.

That being said, the Kotaku article mentions that Karen Strassman (Nanako) is recording for Persona 4 Arena... I doubt she'll be playable, but it wouldn't surprise me if she's in it.

Or its like for some Funimation anime, voice actors can't disclose much w/o prior approval. Like J. Michael Tatum's casting as Sebastian, he wasn't able to reveal that info even though he received news of it at a con.

Going all the way back to the final episode of the anime, the thing that bugged me the most about the party's fight against Ameno-sagiri was that the setting was not like the game's. I'm talking about the background of the game's battle where the characters were literally miles above Inaba. You could see what you and your friends were fighting for, right beneath your feet.

I mean, nothing's wrong with how the anime handled it (although I wish the entire team fought with determination instead of having Yu do most of the work again). It's just that the game's setting during the fight against Ameno-sagiri was much more symbolic.

Yeah, I think the anime lost much depth from the game.
Also, I find it bugging that they mixed Ameno-sagiri and Izanami..
the explanation of the midnightchannel was imo also better in the game (the wanting to show and the wanting to see, I created a mirror for both of them .. something like that).
Of course, it would be difficult to pull the true ending off, but it just feels awkward this way. And for me it doesn't make sense to give the true ending as an "extra", since they already mixed Izanami's speech in ..

more detail from animenewsnetwork

Quote:
The official website for Persona 4 The Animation announced on Sunday that the entire anime series will be compiled into one film with some new cuts of footage. Persona 4 The Animation -The Factor of Hope- will be about 90 minutes long and will open in 10 theaters in Japan on June 9.

The film will not only recap the entire 25-episode television anime series with new cuts, but also the unaired "True End Episode" that will be included in the 10th Blu-ray Disc/DVD volume.

The 10 theaters will include screens in the Kanto, Nagoya, and Osaka areas. Advance tickets with bonus extras will go on sale in 26 Animate stores, Animate's mail-order service, MOVIC's mail-order service, and the participating theaters starting on May 28. Animate will be giving away an exclusive B2 poster of the film's key visual image (pictured right), with a printed signature of voice actor Daisuke Namikawa, with a 2,000-yen (about US$25) advance ticket. The theaters will offer a set of two original postcards with a 1,500-yen (US$19) advance ticket. Every attendees will receive one of seven randomly distributed original stickers inspired by strips of film.

The cast members Daisuke Namikawa, Morikubo, and Kappei Yamaguchi are scheduled to appear in on-stage greetings at a midnight screening at Tokyo's Shinjuku Wald 9 theater on June 9. That 3,000-yen (US$37) screening will also show selected Persona 4 television episodes after the film itself. To mark the occasion, there will be a special edition of Namikawa and Morikubo's Mayonaka Live TV talk show streamed on niconico Live on June 1 at midnight.

Sentai Filmworks announced its license of the television anime series last September, and it plans to release the series on DVD and Blu-ray Disc this year. The Anime Network streamed the series as it airs in Japan.

oh that is just fun. Would be kool if Damagecity was able to go but.. not sure he'd want to. Still, a nifty event. Would be strange to see the whole series slapped together into one movie.. Hopefully they'd reduce a lot of the recapping scenes that would feel ridiculously redundant.

Maybe that'll end up on the american bluray release too as a collector's edition.. that'd be fun.

I dunno, you've seen how well Gundam handles it. Then again, they do 3 movies for the entire series. They'd be better off doing 2 movies for Persona 4. One that lasts up until they think the cases are solved the first time, and the second one leading up to the true finale.

Looks like the 18th of September will be the date to pencil in for the first volume's DVD/BD release in Region 1.

I thought it started rather awkwardly but quickly recovered and became interesting. My only overall complaint is that they moved to fast. With an anime, you have time for the viewer to drink in the atmosphere, but they rush through the whole thing.

Tiny tidbit of news: Amanda Winn-Lee confirmed that though the Hulu subs say "Kuma", the dub uses "Teddie".
