Thumbs down Game unplayable due to bug

I'm an American expat living in Tokyo. Up until last week, I had a US PSN account and a US PS3. Now, due to the yellow light of death, I have a US PSN account and a Japanese PS3. In Japanese culture, circle means yes, and x means no. Completely unchangeable by user settings, the automatic confirm/deny buttons are obviously the opposite. Normally, this is just a minor irritation.
For Trine 2, it results in a broken game, which I learned when trying to allocate my very first skill point. Due to lack of foresight/bad coding, the confirm and deny buttons are the exact same, which means I'll never be able to finish this game I bought.
Is it likely that this is an issue that can be addressed (every other game I have works fine), or should I just become bitter and resentful and never buy another title from that game studio? I would, obviously, much prefer the former rather than the latter.

I'm confused, where exactly is the bug? It sounds like the button layout is different, but technically, if you were to press the opposite buttons than you are used to, the intended function still works. It is just mapped in a way that is counter-intuitive to what you are used to? Or does the game crash during gameplay or now a button doesn't respond at all?

I have been playing Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater for the PS2 and the button assignment on that is reversed so it throws me off at times. But I still just adapt and get used to doing the opposite(and laugh when I leave the game and try doing something else with the inverted buttons and FAIL). It's frustrating, but I've grown up learning new button layouts in everygame since I was a kid so.. I guess I'm used to it.

I can understand getting frustrated by bad coding and the game being unplayable because it crashes/locks/doesn't work. But to say you will become bitter and resentful and boycott the company because the buttons aren't laid out (functionally) like you're used to after switching regional consoles seems more like your inability to adapt rather than the companies inability to make a good game...

but hey maybe I'm understanding this wrong.

I think that pretty much clears that.
I unfortunately do not know how to address such a problem, or wether it can be changed at all. (merely wanted to point that out)
But I do wonder .. does that mean the commands negate each other, meaning you can't do anything at all? Or is it that it's random which command comes into effect?

Still, resenting everything they make would be a little stupid. (I assumed it was more of a joke, anyway).
Does anyone know wether it affects other games of this campany, too? It would be a little annoying if it were

This happens in the menus in the game, not the PS3 overlays? That's strange... I don't see why the game's button settings would be overwritten by the system's when not using the XMB or something.

The game wasn't released in Japan, which is likely why this was never caught in debug (because nobody ever tried playing it on a system it wouldn't be available on).

Frozenbyte's support email is support@frozenbyte.com, but it is unlikely that we'll be able to affect a patch for this issue. Let me pester some more people here and I'll get back to you.

Hi guys, sorry for the long delay, this is indeed a known issue in the US version of the game. The European version has it 'fixed' (buttons will be 'wrong' but they will work regardless).

As mentioned above an update is unlikely to be honest, however we do have a solution that works for most people, so please get in touch (or just use the email above) and we should be able to sort it out.

Also my apologies for not hanging out here very often, things have kept busy. Thanks to everyone who's bought the game and it's great to see most have enjoyed it as well.
