patches takes the cake, by far. i dont know why noone has listed him yet. every encounter is interesting. even though he is an asshole he still keeps the game from feeling stale. as far as bosses, the best is 5-3. epic music, they made me feel guilty even for killing them. and the one i hate the most is the guy who sits in front of 1-. he is so useless and whiney and you cant even save him. the most fun you can get out of him is just fighting him. he is such a bitch

the best NPC is...Old King Doran he freaking raped the hell out of me when i tried to beat him then i got bitchy and took out my Dragon Bone Crusher use a cursed weapon enhanced beat his ass in a corner

I like Rydell. He is the one of the few NPC's who can piss you off and make you mad without actually having to fight you but unlike Patches he won't play nice and apologize for it later. Plus he is one of the nastiest bp's to kill in a straight up one on one fight. Besides no one else has a cool nickname like "Little Allant". He is also the only "soul form" person you will ever meet who isn't actually already corrupted, all the other npc's are still alive. Well at least until they go BP on you.

I really enjoyed the moment Patches kicked me into the pit where Urbain is trapped. I killed him for it when I escaped (first playthrough). Little did I know I would have no Heavy Arrows after that... But that was a great moment in the game.

I loved Biorr. I found Ostrava to be annoying, especially when he disappears

1: Biorr of the twin fangs. - When I first found him I really wasn't sure what to think.. I just kind of stared for a moment and moved on thinking "Ok.........". But then when he came to my aid, sounding like he was having the time of his life at just the thought of the awesome battle (matching my feelings), I thought "Ok, he's pretty cool." Then he sat down for another nap. This time I feel in love with the character for it.

2: Dregling Merchant (World 1). Just love him. There is no explaining it.

3: Sage Freke. An academic man in the search for more knowledge of the Demon's Souls.. If I was stuck there and not limited to actual gameplay, I'd probably be trying to dig deeper into it too.

Maiden in Black or Garl. Also though I've never really done the side quests, Mephistopheles has cool gear and concept.

i agree with most people saying patches- he may be a jerk but he makes the game fun and is unlike any of the other npcs

I killed Patches on my first playthrough, too. I thought long and hard about it the second time, too -- I never bought anything from him; so I should have. Killed him, I mean not bought something The worst part is he gouges something awful on his prices.

I killed Astraea the first time as well, but let her kill herself when I found out you didn't have to kill her.

I thought Scirvir would be cool from his load screen illustration. He looks like a brave, noble, warrior. But, he turns out to be a stuttering little girl.

Biorr is awesome. He makes the penetrator fight a breeze. And he's completely insane and sounds drunk to boot!

Yuria's my favorite; I love the duality... cute, sweet and shy, yet deals it dark, deathly magic. "Yes, Yuria I am sure I want learn how to kill instantly with the wave of a little stick!"
