If it's a port, with only 3D effects added, I'm not buying it (OK, maybe I will...>>
If it's a remake, with new features (maybe a new path with the main character as the driving force to set up for Devil Survivor 2?), I'm buying it.
If it's a sequel, then I'm buying the HECK OUT OF IT.
Devil Survivor is one of my favourite DS games. It blends everything SMT into one awesome game.

I'd like a sequel more than anything. Maybe, if it takes place sometime after the protagonist and his buds stopped summoning demons, then we could find out why they stopped, and aren't helping the world now. If there's a new protagonist, that is.
But if there was one, he (she, possibly?) would have to look just as cool as the first games. I liked the design a lot. I thought that he was, so far, my fav protag.

Damn it...I was hoping they'd make a sequel...and then I was hoping that the sequel would be for the DS, not 3DS.

Hopefully it's a sequel rather than a port or remake.

If it is a sequel, it will be the main if not the only reason i buy a 3DS soon, else i will just wait for a price drop and then get it.

The announcement of a Devil Survivor game for 3DS doesn't preclude the possibility of another Devil Survivor game for DS. Atlus released Persona 4 for the PS2 two years after the PS3 came out, so there is a very distinct possibility that another Devil Survivor title might come to the DS even years after the 3DS launches. I doubt very much that we'll see Devil Survivor 3DS any time in the near future; SMT Nocturne (Atlus's earliest PS2 release) didn't come until three years after the launch of the system. Chances are that the 3DS will see a price drop before Atlus begins releasing 3DS games, so I wouldn't be too heartbroken about having to buy a 3DS to play their games. Devil Survivor 3DS isn't Atlus's only offering on the system, either; new installments for the Persona and Shin Megami Tensei series have been confirmed as well.

I'm buying it because I already had plans to buy a 3DS and I'm a sucker for SMT games. I just hope Persona 1 comes to the 3DS because I don't own a PSP and really want to play it. My only thing is if it is a remake, port, sequel, whatever, I want the mechanic in combat fixed where if an enemy guards, the attack transfers over to another enemy because that became really annoying. I mean it didn't ruin the whole game, but it was just frustrating at times when you have tons of demons closing in on you and want to thin their numbers rather quickly.

I see. Interesting points there, so I'll be looking forward to new SMT games for the DS.

I was under the impression that it was a sequel from the beginning.
I'm planning on (eventually) buying a 3DS regardless. There's also an SMT and a Persona game on that list, so plenty of games to look forward to.
That is, assuming they're all localized.

Or even all made to begin with. I'm pretty sure there have been lists like this before, but a lot of the time the things on them don't always come out.
As for what I'd like it to be, either a retelling, possibly with a new main character, or just with different/additional routes and more characters and demons and whatnot. There's a ton of stuff they could do and STILL not make any of the endings canon.

The one for the 3DS is an enhanced version. It adds some new demons, and a whole new day. Still it isn't a whole new game, so unless you want to play the new day for yourself don't buy it.
Save your money for Devil Survivor 2 which is coming out for the DS.
Big moral choice, right?

So is this game worth buying if I own the original one and put around 100 hours into it? I still have 2 endings to get I believe. I loved the awards system in DS2, is that in place here? The voice acting is intriguing to me also, but as a broke college student idk if I can justify the purchase when it is essentially the same game as DS1 (even though it's one of my favorite games EVER,) hmmm...
