Atlus, give this a couple more months/a year and let us theorize--do NOT reveal what it is to us.

Maybe it only appears IN a new dungeon, BEFORE you complete it's rescue?

Maybe its a useless Easter Egg added for laughs...Have you guys thought about that? Many games have things that serve no purpose whatsoever.

Maybe it has something to do with Philemon.

Evil looking eye sounds more like Nyarlathotep than Philemon.

Question:
It appeared to me when I mastered the Yosuke Social Link in my FIRST gametrough. But I saw that some of you guys said that:"what would happen if you start a new game and see the Yosuke social link to see if the Eye is still there?"That is impossible,'cause when you finish the game and start another one,ALL the SL come to the beggining.
Oh,now that I metion it,one question:I beat the game with 4 max relationships, and when I start again,I had the objects that the persona gives you when you reach lvl MAX.Remember at the end of the game, when you are saying goodbye to your freinds?Ok,right after this, you walk a few steps and listen to your MAX friends(except your MAX teammates, like Yukiko)and then comes the cinematic and the final titles.
Now comes my question:when you beat the game for SECOND time, having your objects(the ones that give you your MAX Social Links friends),do they appear to say you goodbye if you didn't reach lvl MAX with them in the SECOND time, but you did in the FIRST time?
I know that my questions is a little confusing, here an example:
You beat the game with the soccer Social Link at MAX lvl,he gave you an object representing his friendship,at the end,he say you goodbye before going to the train.
Then you start the game AGAIN,having the object that he gave to you,but obviously, without the Social Link at MAX.Now,you beat the game again,and....he said goodbye to you again at the end of the game, having the object, even if you didn't mastered his Social Link?

did you guys ever think that it may have been a feature that would be included in the game but was cancelled in the end and that it was left there by mistake or something?

Come on people, this is the internet. NOBODY has hacked the game code to figure out what this does yet?

So maybe it is a little piece of bull that's just there for laughs, like the Gem on the game lobby of Diablo II, everyone hoped it would do something, and repeatedly mashed it before a game.
Eventually, it was found out that all it did was display a funny little message after you clicked it a few hundred times.
Could we get this eye to display a funny little message for us?

Way too much algorithms, and code to fish through to even consider doing so. Also RPGs tend to have more code than the average action game...

Wasn't too hard for people to hack Ar Tonelico II to fix some of the bugs NISA added. Those internet hackers are a crafty bunch.

that would be so sad if that was suppose to be some nod to Naruto or something. Such a bad show. I normally watch anime subbed, but I remember one day I was flipping through the channels on TV, and I saw Naruto on. So I stopped and figured I'd watch a minute or two, but then Naruto screams out "This is for poking me in the butt!", to make the story short, I quickly changed the channel and never looked back.

but no one even knows what triggers this. We need someone at Atlus to chip in on this. I see this on a couple forums, and no one has a frickin clue what it is.

This is the first time I'm hearing that the pirated version is better than the original. And yeah it's possible, but it is definitely not a one man job.

You'd be surprised. Ever heard of the dildo on the cover of the Little Mermaid video/movie poster? The floating rubber duckies, and suggestive codec messages that Otacon gives you while standing in front of a poster in MGS2? The Bond Tuxedo in MGS1? The Tofu guy in Resident Evil 2? These are all Easter eggs, that were inside jokes at the development office.
It could have been a inside joke in the developers office, or a feature that they intended to use for something else but scrapped it at the last minute.

I meant, is there a symbol that looks like that, that represents something in mythology, so it was added in both instances for some sort of obscure meaning?
An example is the magatama shape, seen as a chain carried by persona Yatagarasu, also used in that ability Sasuke and Kakashi use in Naruto. (this is the most commonly known reference I could think of, though I don't watch the show except for season 1 and don't mean to imply that it has anything to do with Naruto in particular.

Well, the reason those symbols/items are used across several stories/comics/games/etc is because they're common mythological items in Japan. It's the same thing with seeing Christianity references all over the place in games; they're actual real-world references.
Which begs the question; what does the symbol mean in the real world, if anything? If it has a meaning, it might be possible to extrapolate information from there.

It'd be nice if Atlus at least give a hint about the blinking symbol sometimes in the future or something. I haven't gotten the symbol on any of my characters' status screen which makes me more curious about it.
