I agree with Dark Heat...
The most difficult boss is matador(For the first time playing this game) after I defeat him...This game is more interesting ..because i think the next boss is easier..even dante n beelzebub..
Matador has a Red Capote(agility/evad max), and then andalucia..It will kill your party at single turn if that is a critical..
After I start with a New cycle..Matador was very easy..^^
lol..

I hate Surt. Especially if you don't save first since the terminal isn't obvious in that building. Daisoujo teaches you the importance of buffs though. And Matador for being a jerk with his fancy red cape.

I also think Matador is the toughest. All the other ones give you a lot more options. It's a very educational battle though, teaches you the importance of Rakukaja and Sukunda. Or if you level up enough, Fog Breath. You practically need Uzume and Nozuchi for it, though.

I'd have to say Matador. Man he smoked me atleast 7 times.
Lucifer was hard too, but I kinda Deserved it :X
Lv66ish, Main was only one with Pierce(w/e that one is called, and his best attack was the lazer eyes) Dante, Titania and Hell Biker. I think I broke my record for the longest boss fight with a 2hr fight XD.
The only thing that saved me from a longer fight was Dantes attack that lowers def, but skyrockets the enemies phy attack.
Ahhh once I get my ps2 back, its a new save to see what I can do in a speed run.

Matador for me as well.. i remember dying a few times, going back to the mansion and fusing a bicorn... inmune to Zan skills. that was the way i took the matador out.

Any battle having the Boss Kotowari Battle playing in the background brings bad memories of a cheap, hard and tediously long boss fight. Damn you Noah. How were you supposed to know what next specific attack to use >.< Well it was just long because I only had one demon for the fire and ice attacks (Black froest) and one for thunder and power(dante).
Ahriman was no pushover either especially with apocalypse.
Baal was pretty easy though
Kotowari Boss Battle is now the most song I have listened to in my library

Matador, because I was around Lv13 on Hard. Yeah, no hope there.
Since most of the game, my boss win condition was Life Drain/Mana Drain, Mara was laughably easy. No MP=No Auto-Heal. Ba-al Avatar was tough - I had recently gotten rid of Void Curse - and so I had to adapt a strategy of keeping up a Reflect Phys/Reflect Magic up every single round (using Life Drain to keep enough MP) until I got her out of MP.

The hardest bosses I have faced so far in this game were The Harlot & Hell Biker.
On the other hand...the LONGEST boss battles I faced were Noah & Lucifer for sure.
The FUNNIEST boss battles were definitely Kagutsuchi (giant disco ball wtf) & Mara (lol manikins, more like failikins)

Ahriman, by far, gave me the most trouble, as he had the habit of casting Dekunda as soon as he entered his second form. On my fourth try, he just spammed Apocalypse, and he went down fairly quickly. Lucifer was pretty difficult too, but only because it was a painful test of one's patience.

Sorry I get carried away sometimes.
Is that the part near the start when you get judged or later?

Hardest boss was the Trumpeter b/c I would lose count of how many times he blew his trumpet and wouldn't summon the expendable party member in time.

Having just started playing this game and Matador being my first serious Boss, he's the toughest. And as already pointed out multiple times, the only real problem with him is that he appears at a time where you can't possibly be naturally strong enough. I'm still grinding to be able to beat him. Hopefully I'll have him done sometime today.

Am I the only one that struggled through Metatron. That battle took forever and was, by far, the hardest for me and my wife.

Ongyo-ki gave me a lot of trouble when I went up against him for the first time. Even during the Full Kagutsuchi phase.. DYIN. Turns out that I was really underlevelled and didn't have snazzy skills on my demons.
Oddly enough, all the other bosses weren't difficult.

I'll chime in with the majority here and say the Matador. I was cruising along just fine until I ran into him. I had no dekaja or -nda skills for Ongyo-Ki, so that was painful the first time, but after I learned my lesson it was a piece of cake. The only other boss that really challenged me was Beelzebub. Though I will agree with some that Metatron was a pain.

I'll also cast my vote for Matador. Certainly one of those battles that stands out for its difficulty.
Honourable mention also goes to Mot for Beast's Eye + Makakaja + Megidoraon spam.

People kept hyping Matador for me.
"Wait till you meet him".
So I'm breezing through the game and I got the sewers. I was lost because I didn't know what to do so I grinded a while. Then I found the collector and did his quest and I was like, "This game isn't too hard" and I bragged about it online. I asked someone, "How hard is this Madator? I'm at the sewers" and all he responds is "You're about to find out".
I go in and I lost within 5 minutes. Stunned.

Matador... He scares me to the point I don't want to touch Nocturne anymore...
Until I figured the way to defeat him.
And Mot, because of his lovely Beast Eye Chain Combo!

On Hard 2nd Cycle, Mara actually gave me a hard time, since he kept killing my whole team before I could get an action off.
Null Mind fixed that quickly enough.

Matador was probably the hardest boss, unless you count a very early fight against Mara.

Hell Biker actually gave me more trouble than Matador oddly enough. Still the hardest fight for me was Ahriman- he could choose to use dekunda followed by apocalypse to kill you anytime! I could only win by including shiki-ouji in my party so Arhiman would lose his turns whenever he used tentacle... I call cheese on that boss, lol. The most annoying fight however was far and away Noah. I didn't have the necessary elemental spread available amongst my main demons to fight him effectively, so he took about two hours to kill.

Ongyo-Ki.
Before I learned that you needed to fight him at Full Kagutsuchi to see through the illusions, I was hard-pressed to guess which one was not a dope.
The Fiends weren't all that fearsome, except maybe for Trumpeter.

You'll find Ahriman surprisingly easy if you use spells that buff your own party, as opposed to debuffing Ahriman. I maxed out my party's magic, defense, and agility using -kaja spells and he never bothered using Dekaja on me. I don't even know if he knows it. Ultimately, his Apocalypse/Megidolaon combos were highly damaging, but they weren't capable of wiping out my party in one turn. Heal, and continue to barrage him with random-target, high-damage magic.
My most desperate struggle was against Thor. You don't have a Magatama to protect agaist electricity at that point, and he'll crush you if you're underlevelled.
