[DS]Luminous Arc 3
What do you guys think, are you looking forward to this game?
Here's more courtesy of IGN DS
Quote:
August 5, 2009 - The DS continues its reign as the system of choice this generation for Japanese RPGs! The latest announcement is Luminous Arc 3 Eyes, a DS sequel to -- well, to Luminous Arc 2 and 1, of course.
First unveiled in this week's Famitsu, Luminous Arc 3 is the latest entry in a series of strategy RPG games from Image Epoch. The game promises a number of new features, most notably a splitting scenario that offers multiple endings. The story splits based both off the favor the various characters have with you and the results of battle.
Gameplay is divided into two parts: day time and after time. During day time, you work through a story that's set in a magic academy. After time follows battles that you fight during day time. During these sequences, you're free to do as you please, and can work on your character relationships.
Luminous Arc 3 hits Japan this Winter.

I saw it too. Considering Luminous Arc 2's improvements over the original, I can't wait to hear more info about this one (will Atlus announce it for NA before it comes out in Japan? xD).

Very nice. The only design I don't like is the main's sword. Looks like it would break just swinging it around. Best is Rose girl.

Hmm, Im worried. Being at the academy during the day sounds like a chore. I like the relationship levels system thats being implemented, but sadly because its strategy I probably wont play it more than once-- SRPGs take forever. I'm thinking I should pick up LA2 again, but nothing was holding me down to the story and I didnt get very far.

I was excited to learn about this. imageepoch has quickly become of my favorite developers these days. I expect Atlus USA to license this so I may pass on importing in hopes for another "Luminous Art" book. I love the art style of this series.

Nice, I just picked up 1 & 2 during the last month. Just started playing 1, but I like it so far. Always up for more SRPGs.

It seems to me that Marvelous Entertainment's Japanese marketing is gratuitous, seeing how LA 1 & 2 had CD + artbook combos for pre-order in Japan.
Yes, this is a definite Day 1 for me, seeing how LA2 got me into the whole pre-ordering system.
PS: I'll PM Rising Star Games, MMV's European arm, about this on YT.

Yeah, same here. But maybe I can do a re-play after a long. I'm going for the pink girl route <3 (don't know her name)

I've been looking forward to this after the write up in NP mentioned there'd be a third one. After playing the second, I wasnt as excited. Something about the first game didnt continue to the second and I just have yet to enjoy it nearly as much.

I liked the first one and LA2 is one of my favourite DS titles. This one seems to include more sim elements which is a plus to me.
*Insert typical Day1 sentence*

I just heard about this this morning. I suppose that's what I get for using cheatcc as my news source. Well, they posted a link to that article today, so I still found out. Day one for me too. Even though I pre ordered my copy of LA 2, and still haven't gotten around to playing it yet. My rpg collection is large enough, that I decided to wait on any sequels, until I complete all first games. I'm almost there though.
I enjoyed the first one, so I'm up for yet another installment in the series. I like the pink haired girl. I wonder if she's a witch(well, odds are, she is, since only one of the females in LA1 wasn't a witch)? I'm a little rusty with katakana after a bit of a summer break, but I'm pretty sure her name is Ashley.
Atlus, please pick this one up. An artbook would be nice too, but you don't have to go that far(I wouldn't mind if you decide to offer one though). I wouldn't be disappointed if a soundtrack came with it either. Seriously though, I think I've been spoiled with all the extras you have been including with games lately, and am really interested in the main attraction.

I dunno about this. I loved LA1 but I'm not a big fan of LA2 (haven't played as much of LA2 though).

I heard a while back that Luminous Arc was going to be a trilogy. Since the first two made it over here courtesy of Atlus I'd be surprised if they weren't going to pick up this one too.

I hope there's a school-themed RPGs, but with the mechanism like the game "Bully". I'd like to see it.

YES, YES--ALL OVER MY FACE! I love the art for these games. I still have to beat 2, though.

Famitsu updated with a brief article with a couple new (at least for me) screens.
http://www.famitsu.com/game/coming/1226564_1407.html
Most of the info given has already been reported by various local sources. They do give a introductory synopsis of the story which takes place over a decade in the past in the Kingdom of Baldia. A fairy named Felicia appears with the intention of hunting down gifted individuals for she seeks a dormant power within them known as the "Eye of Power"/"Power of the Eye". In order to combat this, the gifted awakened their power, enabling them to the use magic and became known as the Magi Knights. The main character, Refi, awakens after witnessing one of his friends get attacked by Felicia at a refugee camp. This ultimately led to him enrolling in the Ugart Academy of Magic (presumably with the goal of joining the Magi Knights).
They also mention the Day Time/After Time system and how the game diverges based on how various events play out during each sequence. The various things you do (as well as I guess the order you do them in), the people you talk with, the results of battles and so forth all effect how the storyline plays out and ultimately which ending you will get.

Wow, I take it you can read a good deal of Japanese text. How long did it take you? I'm going to be taking my third semester this september, though I haven't studied over summer, so I think I'm going to have to make sure I prepare myself, before I come back. I hate kanji, but I want to learn as much as I can.
Anyways, thanks for translating that. I wouldn't have been able to do it myself. In the meantime, I'm definitely going to require all my games to be translated into English, meaning that I'm once again asking for you to pick this one up Atlus.

I've been a student of the language for approximately 6 years now. I started in high school and continued as a double concentrator in Computer Science and Japanese throughout college.
As for this game, I have confidence in Atlus picking it up. Again, I am certainly "spoiled" by the Luminous Art of the series and would like to be "spoiled" more.
(BTW, in terms of reading, you're gonna want to stop "hating" Kanji A.S.A.P. and find a way to start loving it, lol. The more advanced you get, the less kana you will see. I personally practice Kanji just about every single day)

Sigh, I can't say that I don't see that coming. I guess it can't hurt to practice. I'm supposed to be semi-fluent by the end of this semester, but I'll have to work really hard. On the plus side, I should have an easier time reading articles and famitsu scans too. Thanks for the tip.

I really enjoyed the first two entries in the series so I would love to see Atlus bring this on over.
