Nocturne 2 would be just peachy with me, but it seems unlikely. I would actually prefer different game set in the same multiverse, or amala verse, or whatever it's called. I now dislike JRPGs as a whole, but it still found myself spending 115 hours getting the TD ending for this game, and pretty much loved the whole experience (never in my life have I item shop grinded before!), so, I will be fine with whatever they do, as long as the tone of the game is similar. Or, ya know, a new Persona game would be great as well.

You are exactly right! They should do that almost every other game is doing it. One thing I would like to see would be the tattoos light up depending on what magatama he has ingested (dark, neutral, light) and also the changing of the eyes. That would be cool, don't ya think?

Or you could look at it this way...the demon ending could tie into the DDS boss battle because that ending does show him still in the vast empty vortex world and in DDS it does say that they are pulled into the amala network to fight him. We all know the TD ending is pretty much it, he becomes a god-like demon, he's shown walking to the light, and it's over.

I dont know about that. The only thing I could see them doing is remaking it for the ps3 to better the graphic and take out a few bugs. And as far as the version replacing dante with raidou, not really much of a challenge in my opinion.

I'd give anything for a new SMT on the PS3. Far and away prefer that to a new Persona title. Its on the short list of my most desired games. Dont really want an RPG on a portable as you cant really do as much on that platform to give this series, or really most any in-depth RPG, the complexity that can be gained on a console. I truly hope Atlus gets around to updating the SMT series with a new full release for the next generation consoles.
As for whether or not it would be a direct seqel to Nocturne, I'm inclined to let Nocturne sit as it is. While its up there among my all-time favorites, I feel its atmosphere and story are well resolved for what it is. A true SMT4 could have references to Nocturne, pull from and/or update or add to the mechanics, but pretty much build on what's there and have an all-new story and I'd be in gaming Nirvana.
Had to register just to say that. lol. I *love* Atlus, and have a decent collection of most of their games, but the SMT series is the best, hands down.

There is so much wrong with this...
First of all, SMT Nocturne is Third in the Main Series of SMT. SMT 1, SMT 2, and Nocturne serves as SMT3. SMT4 is Strange Journey (Yes, get over it).
Second, the battle with the Demi-fiend could be real. The Amala network expands to virtually every universe. It's kept ambiguous for that reason.
Finally, No, they shouldn't 'canonize' anything. That ruins games with open endings. Games that do that usually fall flat. I'm happy enough for his cameo in DDS1.
