Point is, why are all the amazing rpg and niche games being dumped for stupid COD clones and action games.
I understand that they're more popular... but come on...
At one point, the industry will saturate with all the FPS games on the market, and people will wonder why.

You've answered your own question.
Companies only see the numbers and money, with nothing else. Personally, I think FPS games have been done to death for quite a while, and that they should move onto something else (a resurgence of TPS, perhaps?).

Third Person Shooters? You mean like Max Payne, Gears of War, Uncharted, Mafia, Infamous, etc. etc. etc?
I'd say the resurgence has already begun, and is already getting old.
edit: Oh right, MGS4 and Resident Evil, Vanquish...

SEGA's forums are back up! Perhaps we should go there and show our support for the series there too?

I really loved the first game and the third looked like it would be closer to that, hopefully someone will release it here.

Would love to see this but don't see a strong likelihood of Atlus being the guys to bring it over...

Wait. Just re-read the thread title. I am tired.
But this still looks amazing.

I know it's unlikely Atlus can get this game from Sega, but if they do, put me down as a preorder. I have the first 2 games in the series and we need the 3rd!

Id rather Atlus bring this one over though than a remade fire emblem with bad sprites.

I doubt Sega would let them but I'll give my support to VC3. Playing through the first currently and it is phenomenal.
I got 3 chapters in, quit, went to the store and purchased both DLC expansions, turned on my computer and purchased VC2, went back to playing.

I doubt it will happen, but I also support Atlus localizing VC3 and will buy the game if it happens to finally get localized.

Seriously. I think I've said this before, but I think Valkyria Chronicles is one of the absolute best Japanese game franchises to come out this generation.
But like you say, at least there's chances for more games in Japan. Even now, Sega of Japan is still going to release some new content via an " Extra Edition" of Valkyria Chronicles III.

if they are releasing DLC, we could always end up getting some special edition with all the extra stuff.
and Sega, i highly doubt your reading this, but if you are, VC 2 sold badly in the West due to it being on PSP, handhelds don't sell as well in the west as they do over there. If you make another, make it on a console.

What goes in the west isn't what goes in the east. Handhelds are fairly popular over there, and are cheaper to make games for. Thus, they will continue to make games for handhelds. Besides, they know the PSP isn't region-locked, so if we really want it we'll import it.

maybe, but records tend to show sales in the west are greater then the East's when it comes to most games.
sales wise, it makes sense.

If they really cared about what goes well in the West, they'd all be making FPS games. Chalk that up to whatever you feel like, but in the end it's their decision and there's not a damn thing you, me, or anybody outside of the company can do about it.

Exactly. When you look at it statistically, it doesn't matter what platform it's on, but FPS's do tend to do better than just any other game. Thank's, Call of Duty. They're being sold to the market of little foul mouthed ten year olds who don't know class.
Sorry if I offended any FPS fans out there. In my experience, I have encountered more of those than other players. And also hardcore Call of Duty fans. They scare me. So do children. Not just Call of Duty kids, but children in general.

That reminds me of a funny time when I was playing Black Ops online with a friend. We kept killing a 10 year old who kept cussing at us, and I told him to go cry to his mother. Next thing we hear is somebody on our team (who turns out to be his mom) saying "He better not come crying to me." Many laughs were had by all.

Just updating everyone that VC3 is being re-released this november in an updated/extended edition called "VC3: Extra Edition"...while NA still waits for a localization announcement.

I agree that this might be good news. I mean, a second game, a second chance. I'm almost positive that Sega noticed the venomous back lash from their decision, and although it did have something to do with sales, I find myself wondering if they're thinking about localalizing it. I mean, regardless, it makes sales, and with the return to a gritty world and shape, I bet it would make more fans say "Hey, it's not just another cookie cutter anime kind of game". Isn't that what a lot of people liked about the first one? That it was grim?

Nocturne had the same thing happen. We got the Director's cut (not counting Nocturne Maniax Chronicle Edition which was released years later) as our only release.

Yeah it'd be nice if we got this one, but I'd be happy with the game period.
I have a feeling a lot of people were turned off by the high school antics of 2... but 3 returns to what VC1 was like.
