A graduate of the School of Human Sciences at Osaka University and the Jazz Composition Department at Berklee College of Music. He received the Best Soloist Award at the 25th Yamano Big Band Jazz Contest. As a sax player, he has appeared at jazz festivals inside and outside Japan, including the Kansas City International Jazz Festival, NHK Session 505, and Tokyo JAZZ 2006 and 2007. Since 2009, he has performed across the world from the United States, Brazil, and Singapore as a soloist of the “Video Games Live” orchestra, a production dedicated to performing the music of video games. As a composer, he has been in charge of the Metal Gear Solid series’ music since 2001. The MGS3 theme song “Snake Eater” was awarded Best Vocal Song by the US game music organization G.A.N.G. (Game Audio Network Guild). Other titles he has worked on in recent years include “Ninja Blade” (FromSoftware), “Bayonetta” and “Bayonetta 2” (Platinum Games), “Ace Combat: Assault Horizon” (Bandai Namco), and “The Wonderful 101” (Nintendo). In 2009, he was awarded with the Distinguished Alumni Award from Berklee College, chosen through a vote by graduates. In addition, he has poured his heart into healing others through music, and in 2009, he founded “Hibino Sound Therapy Lab”. By March of next year, the iPhone app he produced, “Nemuri no Tame no Shohousen” (Prescription for Sleeping), had been downloaded a total of 40,000 times worldwide (at the time of January 2013). In June of 2009, it was the number one downloaded app on iTunes Japan.
